Walk down the path to the Nature Center
at Tekakwitha Woods for stories. After the
program, explore the Nature Center, walk the
trails, and enjoy nature at its best. Cosponsored
with the Kane County Forest Preserve.
To accommodate as many
families as possible, a family may register for
only one date per month.

Eragon Movie Night & Brisingr
Book Release

By special arrangement, the
Library will open from 12:01
until 12:20 am so patrons
that have been notified by the
Library may pick up their copy

Crawly – Bats, Spiders,& Snakes Oh My!

by the Traveling Naturalists from the Kane

Family Read-Aloud Book Club

The Read-Aloud Book Club returns to
encourage lifelong literacy and motivate
families to share reading aloud as a daily
tradition. Here’s how it works. Record time
spent as a family reading aloud and receive
rewards. Every family qualifies for books
dedicated to your family, gift certificates,
autographed children’s books, and canvas
book bags. Join the book club and have fun

Preschool Forum

What preschool is right for your child? Representatives
from preschools in St. Charles
will speak about the unique qualities of their
school. After the presentation, each preschool
will be available to answer questions.

Every Child Ready To Read
Workshop
For Parents, Grandparents, Preschool
Educators, and Child Care Providers
Adults Only – Registration Required
Thursday, November 20
7–8:30 pm
This early literacy workshop will help you
make the best use of the time you spend
reading and interacting with children from
infants through age five. Learn what you can
do to help your child develop early literacy
skills. The workshop will demonstrate skills
and techniques to develop the six pre-reading
skills, as well as offer suggestions for
age-appropriate books and resources, and
provide easy ways to include these skills in
your daily activities.

provided. Workshop will be offered again in
January 2009.

$5 per person beginning 11/13.
Babysitter Training
Ages 11 – 15
Monday, November 24 OR Monday, December 29
9:30 am–5:15 pm
Become a Red Cross certified babysitter in one day. Training will cover all aspects of
babysitter responsibilities, including first aid and emergency actions. To receive certification,
students must attend all day and successfully pass all observable skills. Questions regarding
the training may be directed to the Fox Valley Red Cross at 630-443-8844.
Students outside the Library District: Register beginning 11/10 for November and 12/15 for December
Registration Requirements: In-person registration only
A $10 cash deposit is required to register or to add your name to the waiting list. Cancellations
must be made by 3 pm on Friday, November 21 or Friday, December 26 for the
Monday workshops. Late cancellations or no-shows will result in loss of deposit. Upon
completion of the class, deposits will be returned. In the event that a student on the
waiting list is not called to attend, the deposit will be mailed.
A completed application form, including student and parent signatures, is due at registration.

Space limited to 10 students.
Waiting List - Up to five applications will be accepted per training session. All applicants will
be contacted after the cancellation deadline regarding registration status.

Most workshops will be conducted
from 4:15–5:15 pm
Attention all Scout Leaders: Bring your
troop to the Library. Achievement and
badge workshops, as well as a special
introduction to the Library including a
tour and scavenger hunt, are planned.
Check your calendars and think Library
as you plan your activities for the year.
Registration ends 2 days before
scheduled workshop date. Leader
registers group.
The following workshops are designed to
meet several of the requirements of the
Scout achievement or badge. Services for
Scout Groups are outlined on the Youth
Services pages. Workshops will
be offered next during January-March.
