Parents and Caregivers can help . . .

To make Story Time a positive, beneficial, and enjoyable experience for all, we offer the following suggestions:

  • ReadArrive early so your child has an opportunity to settle in and prepare for the quiet atmosphere of Story Time. At the conclusion of the program, be at the door to pick up your child, ages 3-5.
  • Doors will open 5 minutes before the program begins. Leave all coats and boots in the lobby or by the Story Room.
  • Be on time. Programs will begin and end promptly. If the door is closed when you arrive, please WAIT. The Storyteller will open the door and greet you.
  • Parents and Caregivers should be role models for their children’s behavior in the Library. Review the “Keeping Safe in the Library” brochure with your child/children.
  • Each child reacts uniquely to new experiences. Some children, ages 3-5, may be unsure about being independent. You may want to consider Multi-Age Story Time where you also attend.
  • If your child does not want to come, or participate, please do not force him/her. If this happens, call and consult with the storyteller.

Please call Youth Services at
630-584-9390
when your child is unable to attend.

In the event that your child misses two consecutive programs and we receive no notification, we will assume that your child is no longer able to attend.
