Carlo works for his uncle, in the family shipping business. His uncle considers him worthless, since he spends his days reading, and calls him 'Chuchio,' which means jackass. One day, while wandering through the market, Carlo comes upon a bookseller he has never seen before. In the shop, he finds a book, filled with stories like the Arabian Nights. Even though he cannot pay for it, the bookseller insists that he take the book. That evening, Carlo finds an old map folded up in the jacket, and dreams of finding the treasure.
