Eleven-year-old Thomas has lived a quiet life with his father in an English village for the last five years. Much to his surprise, his father tells him that they are leaving to return to their real home, the planet Ormingat. The plan is for them to return to their golfball-sized spaceship before Christmas, but everything seems to go wrong. Will they make it home? This book focuses on the very human relationships between Thomas, his father, and his friends. The writing is gentle and low-key, and the aliens are benevolent beings. Though a bit slow to get started, once the story takes off, this has an intriguing plot.

Wouldn't you know it? Once again Belladonna is singled out to do something no one else is even being considered for. But this time the adult is dead, a ghost, and the story she tells is quite contrary to what the history book says. And now she needs to carry a message and find the Spellbinder. That's all she is told. So, she goes about trying to unravel it all only to discover that her parents have also gone missing and she can't tell anyone because they are also ghosts! Soon stange things are happening to everyone that Belladonna knows in the ghost world - her world - for she has inherited the ability to see and talk to ghosts - it runs in the family. Determined to discover what is going on, Belladonna, along with Steve a classmate, set forth into the unknown. Spellbinder is an intriguing ghost story different from any you have read before.
