Angela DuPre is not crazy. She knows what she saw that night at the airport. A plane appeared out of thin air. And on it were 36 babies all by themselves... Jonah is an average 13-year-old boy. He loves basketball and gets pretty good grades in school. He's adopted, but his parents have always been open about that. In fact, his only real problem with his parents is that they named him after someone who was swallowed by a giant fish. And really, his younger sister Katherine is okay as far as sisters go. But Jonah's life begins taking some strange turns when he starts getting anonymous letters in the mail. 'You are one of the missing.' 'Beware! They're coming back to get you.' At first he thinks it's just a stupid practical joke, but when his new friend Chip starts getting the same letters and finds out that he is adopted too, the boys begin to wonder if they are somehow connected. Soon they find themselves entangled with the FBI, and they start seeing strange things. Like people appearing and disappearing out of thin air. It's a race against time as Jonah and Chip try to find out where (and WHEN) they're from before it's too late.
