The simple, silly story lends itself to interaction, as parents and children can identify the objects Minerva Louise mistakes for winter wear.

Help Me, Mr. Mutt!: Expert Answers for Dogs with People Problems

Mr. Mutt should be Dr. Mutt, as he gives multiple dogs multiple solutions to their problem. Some of his solutions are 'small dogs use teamwork,' big dogs 'look on the countertop,' and 'bark when you are told to and get the treats.' Dogs write Mr. Mutt about their problems, usually about what people expect of them. These dogs are discouraged, but Mr. Mutt tries to give them advice that will help them. Cats are also discussed as part of a dog's life. What do you think of Mr. Mutt's solutions to the dogs' problems? Also, there are pictures of things to find in the book, such as pink bunny ears, paper clips and tennis balls.

The buccaneer bunnies who sail the Salty Carrot are bad, bad bunnies indeed. Barnacle Black Ear, the captain, is the baddest of them all, but his son Henry is a disappointment. Henry would rather read than shout, 'Shiver Me Timbers!' or make prisoners walk the plank. None of the pirates appreciate Henry's love for books until the Salty Carrot is lost in a sudden storm and they need Henry's knowledge to survive.
