What happens when a dog drops a tennis ball down a prairie dog hole? Nothing less than the great fuzz frenzy! The prairie dogs are wondering what the ball is and whether it's dangerous when Big Bark, the resident bully, tells everyone to stand back and let him look. But Pip, the smallest prairie dog, discovers that the tennis ball has fuzz that comes off! They all pull off fuzz, decorate themselves, and have parades until the fuzz is all gone. Then they start arguing because some prairie dogs have more fuzz than others. Finally, Big Bark ends up with all the fuzz, but then he gets grabbed up by an eagle! Can they save Big Bark? Do they want to? The ending is great, and the pictures are priceless. Who knew there were so many ways to wear tennis ball fuzz?

Can you guess what is growing inside this egg? Short rhymes on full page illustrations give the clues. Turn the page for the answer and more information about each animal. The illustrations are stunning. A very fun way to learn about egg-laying animals.

What a good dog you are. What a smart dog you are. What a clever dog you are. These are the words Professor Ueno uses to praise his beloved Akita, Hachiko, daily. Professor Ueno takes the train to downtown Tokyo to the university where he teaches. One morning after he leaves, Hachi (his nickname) escapes through the unlatched gate and follows him to the train station. Having no time to return the dog home, Ueon is relieved when the stationmaster agrees to look after him. And thus starts the daily ritual of Hachi meeting his master at the 3:00 train. They make friends with 10-year-old Yasuo and his mother who also board the train daily. One day the Professor unexpectedly dies at work. When Yasuo finds out he grieves for the Professor and decides to take on the responsibility of caring for the lonely Akita who never fails to meet the 3:00 train. Every day for 10 years he comes to the station to feed Hachi. The stationmaster notices Yasuo's devotion to the dog and tells him that one day Hachi will reward him. 'A dog, reward me?' he scoffs. But reward him he does in a very special way. To find out how, read Hachiko Waits.
