Ike, Mrs. LaRue's dog, has perfectly good reasons for chasing the neighbors' cats, howling until the neighbors complain and 'sampling' Mrs. LaRues' chicken pot pie. But does she listen? No! Off he goes to obedience school ' to him, prison. Of course, this prison is more like a country club, but to hear Ike's letters about the gruesome punishment he is subjected to, he has no choice but to run away. Children will enjoy listening to Ike's version of the story while the pictures show what is really taking place.

This is a hilarious journal that highlights some of the good and bad things about being a worm. For instance, worms can't get cavities (as they have no teeth), but they must be very careful around the dangerous game of hopscotch. This book shows a worm child as he engages in childhood activities like school and vacations, but told with humor from the perspective of the world of worms. Other books by Doreen Cronin include Diary of a Spider, Diary of a Fly and Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type.

Lovers of dinosaurs will adore this quick, fun early reader! Perfect for kids who like to wiggle when they read, each page has dinosaurs doing things that kids can do right along with them (hopping, flopping, twirling, and twisting are some of the actions). This is a simple early reader with only a couple words on each page, but it would also make a wonderful read aloud for younger kids. (Reading Level: 1.0)

This play-by-play account of the final moments of the championship game of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League in 1946 captures the excitement of this moment in baseball history. The content of the game is recreated from historical sources and told through the eyes of a young fan of the league, with many color illustrations as well as photographs of the players. Sit on the edge of your seat with Margaret and her family as the game proves that, 'You have to be tough to play baseball in a skirt.'

A poor man desperate to feed his daughter something besides thin porridge follows a doctor's advice and sets himself up as 'Dr. All-Knowing' - complete with a suit, a sign, and an ABC book. He then proceeds, with much luck and the help of his daughter, to help a wealthy man find his stolen money. The illustrations spread out on larger-than-usual pages add spice and personality to all the characters. A delightful retelling of a rarely-heard tale.
