Can’t wait to read this book, I just listed it as a must read in honor of Banned Books Week myself! It seems like a difficult task these days to find a non-fiction that isn’t a bear to read. Sure, we have all kinds of political memoirs and war stories but I anticipate that there will be a raw nature to this book that will be a -joy?- to read. – Melissa

Thank you for this! It’s always good to find other people who are interested in magical realism, even if it’s only a little bit. I think if you’d like to expand on a list of magical realistic authors, I would add in Toni Morrison (Song of Solomon, Beloved), Haruki Murakami (The Wind-Up Chronicle, 1Q84), Danielle Roney (On the Edge of Self), and the “father of magical realism”, Massimo Bontempelli (The Faithful Lover).

Going by cover alone, the best shows the man looking out the window at the NY city scape. It’s colorful and bright and attracts the eye. The covers may make sense if you have read the book, but I haven’t, sorry.

I was thinking about this same topic the other day, and then I saw your great list of titles to recall those days before and after the FALL. You have presented some great titles to learn more about this historical time period. Thank you…
And one other aside……….isn’t it sad that Paul Watkins has not written anything lately?
