A new edition of the classic reference set Masterplots is available for students and interested readers in the Reference area of the library (REF 809 MAS vol. 1-12). There is also online access through the library’s Literary Criticism page. Select “Salem Literature” under the heading “Additional databases to search.” Or click the book cover to try it now.
The signed essays cover works of long fiction, short fiction, poetry, nonfiction, and drama. The coverage is both broad and deep – you will find Sophocles’ play Antigone and Joyce Carol Oates’ novel Blonde.
This set could be called a catalog of the classics. It will provide the who/what/where/why of each work covered. You will find synopses, analysis and bibliographies.
What was that book about? If you remember reading it, but have forgotten the plot, Masterplots is the place to start.
