Book Club Requirements

  • To expand your reading experiences beyond the books you have at home, books or audiobooks must be checked out from the St. Charles Public Library. You need to read or listen to the entire book or audiobook to be able to include the title on your book log.
  • You may log-in once each week (Wednesday to Tuesday) in Adult Services at the Readers Services or Information Services Desks, or in Youth Services at the ASK ME Desk.
  • We are unable to accept book logs via the book drop, mail, phone, fax, or email.

Weekly Drawings

  • Each week that you log-in books, you may complete an entry for the weekly prize drawing for a $10 Borders Gift Card. After Level Three, you may continue to log-in once each week for the weekly prize drawing.
  • All weekly entries go into the Grand Prize drawing for either a mountain bike, from The Bike Rack, or an iPod.
  • All drawing entries must be received before 9 p.m. on the appropriate Tuesday; winners will be notified within 2 days. Winner of the Grand Prize drawing will be notified by Friday, August 7.

Wild Wednesdays!

  • Please note that for Summer Reading, each "week" starts on Wednesday and ends on the following Tuesday.

Long Books Count More!

  • Up to 175 pages = 1 book
  • 176 - 300 pages = 2 books
  • 301 - 450 pages = 3 books
  • 451 - 600 pages = 4 books
  • 601 - 750 pages = 5 books
  • 751 - 900 pages = 6 books
  • 901 and up = 7 books

Reading Rewards:

  • Level One (5 books) – Kane County Cougars souvenir, Riverview Miniature Golf pass compliments of St. Charles Park District, & Oberweis coupon
  • Level Two (10 books) – T-shirt compliments of the St. Charles Youth Commission, Brown’s Chicken coupon, & Funway coupon
  • Level Three (15 books) – Paperback book & Kane County Cougars game ticket
  • Reading Rewards will be available while supplies last.

  • A Small White ScarThurs., July 9, Noon to 12:45 p.m.
    Let’s Talk Books Discussion Group on Gather round to discuss The A Small White Scar by K.A. Nuzum. Details at the ASK ME Desk.

Readathon

  • Students who have completed Grades 6-8
    Wednesday, July 22
    1:30–4:30 p.m.
    or
    Monday, August 3
    1:30–4:30 p.m.

    Grab your favorite cushion, tote a stack of books, and settle in for an afternoon of silent reading. Lemonade and cookies will be provided. A drawing will be held for books. Members of Book Clubs II, III, & GTGR will receive credit for 2 books. You MUST attend for the entire 3 hours. Registration required.
