The VITA workshops dates for spring 2013 are:

  • Saturday, February. 23, 8 a.m. to 11 am
  • Saturday, March 16, 8 a.m. to 11 am
  • Saturday, March 23, 8 a.m. to 11 am

VITA workshops are held at Dunham Hall, 1400 Marseillaise Place. For more information, please call 630-844-7557 or e-mail AU-VITA@aurora.edu.
Please bring the following items: prior year’s income tax return, social security card, driver’s license, W2, and any 1099 forms. This service is available to taxpayers earning up to $50,000, disabled persons, elderly and non-English-speaking taxpayers.  Bilingual students will provide translation assistance for Spanish-speaking taxpayers.

The Center for Economic Progress provides free tax help to working families throughout Illinois. With over 30 tax sites, we are ready to help families get the most out of tax time.
In 2012, our tax sites will be open from January 19, 2013 through April 15, 2013. Note that some tax sites have varying opening dates.

Gail Borden Public Library Tax Counseling Project

The Gail Borden Public Libraryext link will again host the Tax Counseling Project.  Services are free to families (more than one person in home) with incomes of less than $45,000 and individuals with incomes less than $20,000. 
This service is available from January 19, 2013 through April 15, 2013.
Hours of operation:
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday:  5:30 pm - 8 pm;
Saturday:  1pm – 5 pm
After February 28, 2013:  Monday, Wednesday & Saturday hours only
Please bring the following items:  a valid Photo ID, Social Security Card or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) for all family members; all W-2's and 1099's, if any;  a copy of prior year’s tax returns, property tax bill, college expenses, if any; if choosing to direct deposit the refund please provide a bank account number and routing number.

Senior (55+) tax assistance is being provided by the American Association of Retired Persons Tax-Aide Volunteers in conjunction with Geneva Township.  Please call Sherry to schedule an appointment.
Hours of operation starting February 5, 2013: Tuesdays & Thursdays:  9 am - 3 pm
Please bring the following items: photo ID, SS Card, prior year’s tax returns, W-2s, 1099s, any additional materials needed to file taxes.

Waubonsee Community College participates in the Internal Revenue Service's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA).
This service is available for families whose annual income is less than $40,000, and individuals whose annual income is less than $15,000.
Hours of operation: Tax assistance sessions are held at the college's Aurora Campus (18 South River Street, Aurora):  January 26, 2013 through April 13, 2013, (closed Tuesday March 20 and Saturday, March 23, 2013).
Hours of operation: Wednesday:  5:30 - 8 pm and Saturday: 10 am - 1 pm
Please bring the following items:
photo ID, SS card, prior year’s tax returns, W-2s, 1099s, any additional materials needed to file taxes.
