Doing Your Search
- You may choose more than one category at a time to search
- Or choose just the database(s) you’re interested in searching by checking or un-checking the boxes in front of them
- Check the “Full-text articles only” box to see only articles with complete text
- Use the date range boxes provided to the right of the search boxes if you’d like to search certain dates
- Use the boxes provided to combine or exclude terms (by using the drop-down menu to choose AND, OR, or NOT)
- Use quotations around specific phrases
- You can include the library catalog in your search to see the library’s books and movies on your subject
Looking at Results
- Results are automatically grouped by database
- If a database returns more than 20 entries, click “Next Set” at the bottom of the list to see additional items
- Change the “Results Display Mode” from “Grouped” to “Relevancy-Ranked” via the pull-down menu for more on-target search results
- You can use the same pull-down menu to sort your results by title, author, or date
- If you see a database that has returned a promising number of results (on the right), you can click the database name to go directly to those results
- If you find an entry you’d like to email, print, or save, open the full-text entry and follow the directions in that database for emailing, printing or saving
- If you use the “Print Results” “Save Results” or “Email Results” links at the top of the Super Search page, you’ll be printing, saving or emailing the list of search results, not the text of the entries
