Assistance for Victims of ViolenceAre you a victim of violence? Secretary of State Jesse White administers money to Illinois victims of violent crimes through the Court of Claims Department. Under the Illinois Crime Victim's Compensation Act, victims of violent crimes who have inadequate insurance or no source of funds to cover their expenses are eligible for compensation covering medical bills, counseling, lost wages and other expenses.

Illinois Crime Victim's Compensation Formexternal link - Online compensation form in PDF.  Adobe Acrobat is required to view the form. If you have been a victim of a violent crime, you could receive compensation through the Secretary of State's Court of Claims Department. Information and forms also are available at the Library.
