(If you already have a netLibrary account you can access the eBook collection here.)
eBooks Online:
The St. Charles Public Library's eBooks are electronic copies of published works, which can be "checked out" and read on your computer through the netLibrary web site.
Getting started:
Create an account: Before you can checkout netLibrary ebooks you will need to create an account from within the Library. To successfully create an account it is very important that you follow the instructions carefully.
- From any computer in our Library, click on the netLibrary “create account” link.
- Make sure that you see the words "St. Charles Public Library eBook Collection."
- Choose a unique username and password to serve as your virtual library card. You will need to remember this username and password.
- Please remember to "log out" when you want to leave the netLibrary site. If you do not log out, the next patron who accesses the netLibrary site from that computer will be logged on in your name.
- Once your account is set-up,
eBooks can be read online from computers in the library or from your
personal computer at home.
Search for an eBook: You may search for an eBook in the netLibrary web site by typing in a subject, author or title and then you can browse or check out the book.
Read an eBook Online: Either at home or in the Library, you may view the full-text of an eBook. At home, you’ll be prompted to login to your account. In the Library, any eBook you select will open, there’s no need to login. As long as you are actively using the eBook (turning pages, searching the text, etc.) it remains available for you to use. When no activity is detected for 15 minutes, the eBook is automatically returned so that someone else may view it.
