There are many wonderful internet sites of particular interest to readers. Those listed below offer some good points to jump off on your own quest.

Book Lists and Reviews

AllReaders.com - featuring detailed book reviews from all genres as well as featured authors, latest book reviews.

Amazon.com - provides book reviews and summaries for over 2 million titles.

Black Issues Book Review - Reviews and news for African-American book buyers.

BookLetters - can help you find your next good read.  Read BookLetters e-newsletters online or in your email.

Booklist Center - one of the largest selection of book lists on the web - currently 253 lists in 62 categories: fiction, nonfiction, popular and scholarly - and no advertising.

Bookpage - gives review, interviews, and a link to Oprah's book club.

BookSpot - links to bestsellers, book reviews, on-line books, lists, children's materials, awards and on-line magazines.

Laura Bush - Some Reading Recommendations from Laura Bush. Our First Lady is a devoted lover of books and supporter of reading for everyone. Mrs. Bush, a former librarian, has recommended a wonderful selection of books

What's Next Database - lists titles in series in a database searchable by book title, author or series title.

Wired For Books - offers free downloads of stories, essays, interviews, and poems. Literature began as an oral art, long before written words and printing. Enjoy bookish pleasures while mobile, listening to the subtleties of word sounds and capturing feelings when they're not in the words, but in the way they're spoken.

  • Nationally recognized librarian and best-selling author Nancy Pearl recommends twelve different titles each month for your reading pleasure.

On-Line Magazines

Booklist - is the online version of the American Library Association publication that reviews the most notable new fiction and non-fiction titles.

Book Browse - author interviews, book discussion guides, book reviews and excerpts of new titles are are available on this page.

The Chicago Tribune - book reviews (some quite lengthy) author interviews, literary essays, and literary events around Chicago are presented here.

DNA of Literature - read, search and download any or all of over three hundred in-depth interviews with poets, novelists, playwrights, essayists, critics, musicians, and more.

January Magazine - great site that reviews fiction, children's books, and a variety of non-fiction titles in a searchable format.

Locus - covers the world of science fiction, fantasy, and horror with reviews, essays, book lists and some author interviews.

Romantic Times - a trade journal that offers book lists, reviews, awards and author interviews for readers and writers of romantic fiction.

Words Without Borders - an online magazine of international literature.
