Large Print Books:
There are approximately 6,000 volumes in our adult large print collection. There also are large print books for youth available in Youth Services.
Large print books are well used by our patrons and also by patrons of other Illinois libraries through interlibrary loan. We also request large print materials from other Illinois libraries. The Large Print Area is located near the Library’s main entrance and Circulation Desk for patron ease.

BiFolkal Visiting Kits are available to circulate. These help family and friends to stimulate conversation with older Americans struggling with dementia. The Library holds kits on the following topics and kits on other topics are available through interlibrary loan.

- Remembering Spring
- Remembering the Depression
- Remembering the Fifties
Descriptive videos are designed with low vision patrons in mind. Narrative descriptions of the key visual elements of a movie are added so that people with limited vision do not miss those key elements.
The Library has a collection of approximately 60 descriptive videos in VHS format. Many of these are popular movies.
WGBH Boston, a public broadcasting outlet, is now producing DVDs with the descriptive feature for nonfiction PBS programs, such as Nova. The Library owns nearly 80 DVDs with the descriptive feature.
