To maintain an atmosphere that welcomes and accommodates all Library users, the Board of Trustees of the St. Charles Public Library provides the following areas for private tutoring:
- A designated tutoring section has been created recently for private tutors and their students. It is on the main level along the east wall. The tables are large enough to accommodate books and supplies. Lounge chairs are conveniently nearby for waiting students, siblings, and parents.
- During the school year only, one study table is available in Youth Services. The Youth Services Department has lost 50 % of its general study table area, so the area designated for tutors also has decreased. The designated tutoring table is in the Info Commons area.
These are the only places in the Library where private tutors may meet with their clients.
As our collections and services have grown to meet the increasing needs of our community, we have had to use study space for shelving and equipment. So that we may serve all our patrons, the Library Board has found it necessary to allocate space to accommodate diverse needs.
In order to maintain a library that is conducive to study and reading, the Library Board has designated quiet areas as well as areas where talk and discussion may take place. The Board believes that the new tutoring area will allow tutors and students to meet without disturbing the many other patrons who come to the library for individual reading and quiet study.
Thank you for your cooperation.
