- We ranked 6th of the top 10 U.S. public libraries with populations of 25,000-49,999
- 47,855 people live in the St. Charles Public Library District
- 67.3% have current St. Charles Public Library cards
- An NIU study projects that the Library District population will be 74,800 in 2030
- 1,222,892 items were checked out in 2007 – or 25.55 per capita
- 356,998 visits were made to the Library (7.46 per capita)
- We sent 63,225 notices for items on hold (40,036 were emailed)
- There were 1,047,014 visitors to the Library web site
- IM reference transactions were up 52.8%
- We added 41,026 items to our collection (31,374 books and 9,652 DVDs, CDs, audio books)
- The Kara Foundation donated the painting “Reading on the River” by Kevin Luthardt
- The Karen G. Russell Memorial Children’s Lecture Series was initiated
- Book collections were established at the Lazarus House Women’s Center
- We participated in the “Art and Architecture in Illinois Libraries” grant projects
- SuperSearch federated search product was installed so patrons can search multiple online databases
- MyLibraryDVD, an on-demand video service via the Library web site, was added
- We conducted a community survey as part of our 2009-2014 strategic planning process
- We won a Civic Image Award for our centennial celebration
- Our Cart Capades With the Bookettes won best non-profit entry in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade
- We cosponsored Our Community Reads with School District 303 and Elgin Community College. Two books were featured, and both authors visited the Library and schools:
