Be the First On Your Block
Isn't it delightful when you know about a hot new book before all your friends do? Or hear about the latest books in your particular field of interest, from science to business, gardening to history? And isn't the best thing of all to have this information delivered to you on a regular basis, right in your own e-mail inbox?
Well, if all these reading fantasies sound too good to be true, they're not. Through a new program called Bookletters, the library offers daily, weekly, and monthly newsletters on topics such as "Science and Nature," or "Past and Present," plus new fiction and nonfiction previews, and hot new "Book Club Choices." You can learn what books will be featured on TV shows such as "Book TV," and get a recap of books that have already been discussed on other programs during the previous week. Fans of mysteries, science fiction, and romance novels can receive newsletters with titles they're sure to enjoy. There are even Author Profiles with great information about your favorite writers (a valuable resource for book discussion groups!) as well as streaming videoclips for many DVD titles and streaming audioclips for many audiobooks.
You can learn more about this vast and ever-changing new feature by clicking on the Bookletters icon found on our web site's home page, or ask a Readers Services librarian for more information.
