The Yu-Gi-Oh tournament was a hit. 15 students aged 8 through 14 competed for 3 and half hours to a gripping conclusion. One competitor was playing with a deck he had only acquired the day before. Another won all his matches except for the last one, coming in second-place. The winner hadn't played for a year, and had come looking for new friends to play with. There were many requests for a repeat. We couldn't have done it without our expert, Peter, who came from another library. 'Want more tournaments? Please let us know.

Wow! I can't believe it has been two months since I blogged! Since my last entry, we had a great Mario Kart tournament. Our winner, David, had joined us for previous tournaments. I guess persistence pays off!

Due to popular demand, this summer's game tournament will be Yu-Gi-Oh, on July 28. Prizes will be more Yu-Gi-Oh cards. Bring your best deck to see how it stacks up against others'!

mariokart.jpgDue to popular demand, the Spring Break Gaming Tournament on April 1 will be a Mario Kart tournament. There are still openings available. Registration is required. You can register right now with your own library card.  Click here to begin registration. Tournament Rules will be posted next week.

We're sorry if you missed our December Mario Kart Gaming Tournament. Surprises abounded again, as new players scored high against veterans during the preliminary rounds. The final race was neck and neck as Brett, who won in a previous tournament, combatted two brothers to determine first, second and third places. Brett took third, so brothers Ethan and Asher took home the first and second place Game Stop gift cards. Our next tournament will be on April 1. Don't like Mario Kart? Please give us suggestions for another great tournament game. It must be rated E or E 10+.

If you weren't at our 3rd Mario Kart tournament, you missed a lot of excitement! 25 students, in 3rd through 8th grade, played for 3 hours of riveting races. Everyone was a skilled racer. Once again, our winner, Lorenzo, had only registered that morning for the games, as had our second-placer, David. But late registration doesn't mean anything--the third place racer, Jack, registered well in advance.

The game choice for our next tournament in December will be voted on by students who come to our open video gaming sessions. This summer open video gaming is held each Monday, from 10:30 to noon, and Friday, from 1:30 to 3. Come try out our new Playstation 3 games!

There were many surprises at our Mario Kart gaming tournament on December 29. Participants who ranked lowest after the preliminary rounds bested kids who ranked much higher. 'Just goes to show that you don't ever know how well you will do! Our first-place winner was Brett, who had only heard of the tournament that morning and registered just in time! Our next tournament will be DDR-Dance Dance Revolution, at 1:30 on March 30. Break out your dance pads!
