Are you looking for some gaming fun during Spring Break? We have planned two events on March 28. No-School Day Gaming from 9:30-11:30 AM for families and students in grades 3-8, who are invited to drop in, show their St. Charles Library card, and play for as long as they like. Then, get ready for action in the afternoon, when there will be a Mario Kart Wii tournament from 1:30-4:30 PM. Students in grades 3-8 must register for the tournament to take part. National Gaming Day on November 12 was an entertaining day for everyone. 16 families came by and tried their hands at Kinect Sports, Mario Kart Wii and LEGO Rock Band. Some even broke out the board games and tried our two newest, The Greatest Day Ever and Loaded Questions Jr, which were provided to libraries across the country just for participating in National Gaming Day.

It never ceases to delight me that gamers are a sharing group of kids. They all seem willing to give each other hints on how to play the game. Seven families qualified for the drawing by staying an hour or more. The winner has been notified by email and a gift card is on the way through snail mail.

If you missed this year, National Gaming Day is a yearly event. We also  have regular drop-in gaming events. You can find the dates in Discover Your Library and on the Youth Services Event Registration Calendar.

Get ready for the next all-day gaming event, as St. Charles Public Library once again takes part in National Gaming Day, on Saturday, November 12. Open games will be held in the morning and the afternoon. Tell your friends, bring your family! Be sure to bring your St. Charles Public library card.

We hope your summer was fun and you are off to another great school year! We have planned a number of gaming events this fall. You may have noticed that there are Family Drop-in Gaming dates each month. Students in 3^rd through 8^th grade are welcome to join us without their families. All that you need is your St. Charles library card. Show it at the door of the meeting room on the Family Drop-in Gaming date and you are in for up to three hours of video and board games. The next one will be on Monday, October 10 from 1:30 - 4:30 PM.

We're back! If you've been waiting to try out our new Kinect games, tomorrow, January 28, is our first winter day of drop-in gaming for grades 3-8. Of course, all our Wii favorites are available, as well as the new Wii Party. All you need is your St. Charles Public Library card. Drop by between 4-5 PM any Friday from January 28 through March 25. You can practice for the tournament that will be held on April 1. BTW, we're still looking for suggestions for a good tournament game. Remember, it must be rated E or E 10+.

National Gaming Day is Saturday, November 13. Wii, computer, and board games - We will have games for all ages at the St. Charles Public Library. Just drop in between 10 am and noon and 1 pm and 3:30 pm, with your family, friends or by yourself, for a great time!

Drop-In video gaming for students in grades 3 - 8 goes on through August 20, every Monday at 10:30 AM and Friday at 1:30 PM. All you need is your St. Charles library card. Come on in and challenge your friends and make new ones.

Family Gaming Day is Tuesday, August 17 from 1:30 to 4:30 PM. Video games and board games for everyone! Drop on by!

If you weren't at our 3^rd Mario Kart tournament, you missed a lot of excitement! 25 students, in 3^rd through 8^th grade, played for 3 hours of riveting races. Everyone was a skilled racer. Once again, our winner, Lorenzo, had only registered that morning for the games, as had our second-placer, David. But late registration doesn't mean anything--the third place racer, Jack, registered well in advance.

The game choice for our next tournament in December will be voted on by students who come to our open video gaming sessions. This summer open video gaming is held each Monday, from 10:30 to noon, and Friday, from 1:30 to 3. Come try out our new Playstation 3 games!

Come join us on Fridays for Wii gaming! Gaming is open for students in grades 3 - 8. Just show your St. Charles library card at the door. Anyone who brings a new gamer will receive a coupon for a treat, and so will their friend. Just two more weeks this fall, on December 11 and December 18 from 3:45 - 5:15 PM.
