Let’s Talk Books – Scene Stealers

      Tuesday, April 10 at 4:15 p.m. – Author Cynthia Kadohata joins students in grades 4-8 at Scene Stealers as they discuss her book Weedflower. Registration required at the ASK ME Desk in Youth Services.

      Tuesday, April 10 at 7 p.m. - Author Cynthia Kadohata will talk to adults and students about her books Weedflowerand Kira-Kira. These books will be available for purchase and autographing following the presentation.

NOTE:   During the day on Wednesday, April 11, Ms. Kadohata will be visiting with students at Elgin Community College.

Our Community Reads Family Day

      Sunday, April 15 from 2-3:30 p.m. – Entertainment for all ages. Enjoy demonstrations of calligraphy by Ayumi Soobratty and origami in the Meeting Room. Listen to stories in the Helen Gale Story Room. Hear the Spring Valley Koto Ensemble in the Carnegie Community Room.

Folktales of Japan

      Friday, April 20 at 7 p.m. – Folktales of Japan with storyteller Anne Shimojima. Meet a clever judge, a wise old woman, a mysterious crane, a revengeful snake, and a headless samurai in these tales of magic, transformation, greed punished, and kindness rewarded. Especially for students and adults.
