Oil Pastels
Art has always played an important part in my life. My first degree was in Art Education. I spent six years as an elementary art teacher, leaving to raise a family. I continued to teach in other venues for many years. I returned to school and earned my second degree in Art Therapy. After working with sexually abused children for a number of years, I once again “retired.”
I began exploring oil pastels as a new medium for me, having oil painted earlier in my life. I’ve enjoyed exploring the beauty of this medium as well as discovering the possibilities it offers. The problem solving nature of creating art presents challenges which I find both stimulating and rewarding.
My subject matter is mostly inspired by photographs I have taken. I hope that my art infuses into these images something of the human element and the creative process. I feel that every artist leaves a part of themselves in their creation.
