Rosalinda Kilmer & Tim Kilmer

September, 2008 Artists of the Month

Rosalinda Kilmer, born in Winfield and raised in West Chicago, is the daughter of two Mexican immigrant parents and is the oldest of three girls. She was raised in a strongly Christian home and with parents who always stressed the importance of education and taught her to believe that she could be anything she dreamed of. With the love and encouragement of her parents she excelled academically and won a scholarship to attend Greenville College in Greenville, Illinois. By God’s grace and guidance she graduated in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Modern Languages as well as receiving several awards and honors. It was during her college travels to foreign countries that Rosalinda’s love of photography blossomed. Self-taught and inspired simply by the beauty of the scenes around her, Rosalinda has worked in retail portrait studios, and eventually branched out on her own doing weddings, family portraits, and tries to promote sales of her artistic photography. Her collection at this exhibit revolves around her work from a trip throughout Western Europe in 2005 which produced many images of Paris and Venice.

Tim Kilmer born in Logansport, Indiana, but living in Lockport, Indiana, was raised in a Christian home along with his older brother. Tim is a charcoal and pastel artist that specializes in landscapes and street scenes. Tim started his art career as a child in grade school and built skills from then on. He experimented with charcoal and pastel for the first time at age 16 and his first picture created was a controversial picture of a homeless man. This medium became a natural God given talent for Tim developed by instructors. In 2000 he enrolled at Purdue University. Tim was studying agriculture management through the Dept of Agricultural and Biological Engineering. Tim took three semesters of art classes as electives but was surprisingly discouraged by his academic advisers who thought his interest in art was too unrelated to his pursuits in agriculture. However, in 2002 at the University of Wales of Aberystwth, as an exchange student, he was allowed to take another step in a self-study course with the freedom to work in any medium or topic. From there the European street scenes and landscape pictures started to become a continual work in his life. The standards he continues to set are to produce work at a quality that makes people feel as though they could almost step into the picture. Tim graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Systems Management with a Minor in Agricultural Economics.

Today Rosalinda and her husband Tim share a farmstead with two dogs, two barn cats, four bunnies, and 30 chickens! She works for a top financial firm educating individuals on the importance of saving for retirement, she sings on the worship team at her church, and she continues to travel and photograph as often as she can. He works for a top life insurance company as a sales representative educating individuals about saving money, making money, and protecting their families. He continues to travel and photograph material as often as he can to get ready for his next work of art.
