November 2006 – Artist of the Month
Artist Cesira Bonin works basically in oil and watercolor. Since 2005, after working in watercolors at the DuPage Art League, she works mostly in that media.
Cesira began creating artwork while in grade school and was known to her class as the class artist. The fact reemerged fifty years later at her elementary class reunion. She laughs that her name did not leave any impression but her artwork did. She enjoyed a semester of sculpting at the Art Institute of Chicago before high school, and went on to a class in oil painting as an after school exercise. An art scholarship was offered, however, she chose another path in life. While married and raising four children, she pursued and received a degree in biology.
She did pick up her brushes now and then whenever time allowed, but now, in retirement, as a grandmother and caregiver, she paints as often as possible. “I truly enjoy it, and am very happy that I can recapture those wonderful feelings again,” she says. In art, she derives pleasure and great relaxation that accompanies creating and painting. She finds that each creation takes her into a new adventure in art.
She is very pleased to be able to display her works here at St. Charles Public Library for the month of November, and expresses her appreciation to the Library for creating an area for artists to display their talents.
