Textile artist Gwyneth Johnsen acquired hand and machine needlework skills during childhood. Since joining Prairie Star Quilters Guild (St. Charles) in 1991, she has attended numerous design and technic workshops to expand her stitching and visual arts repertoire.
A lifelong musician and poet, Ms. Johnsen attempts to incorporate rhythm, melody, harmony, and sometimes text into the picture. She has exhibited at the Prairie Star Quilters Guild bi-annual show and at the Campbell House Gallery in Geneva.
Using teaching skills of three decades of private music instruction experience, Ms. Johnsen leads free monthly workshops at Town and Country Public Library in Elburn where participants learn the skills associated with piecework and quilting while making quilts for charity.
