Zul Jaffer

March 2004

Zul Jaffer was born in Pakistan. He did not have any fine art training until he moved to the United States. He then took drawing classes from 1991 to 1994.

Mr. Jaffer studied business administration and marketing but felt unsatisfied with that environment. Then he took up painting and has never wanted to put the brush down. He had to relinquish his painting for several reasons but now has returned to the canvas where he finds serenity. Mr. Jaffer is a teacher and painter.

Jaffer’s works have been exhibited at a juried exhibition at the Texas State University, Illumination in Atlanta, Illumination in Houston, Illumination in San Antonio and the Artist’s Coalition of Austin.

Mr. Jaffer adds:

The visual dialogue that is being communicated cannot always be composed into words. The esthetic is merely a vehicle to reach out reactions by tapping into their inner feelings. The fine art that is from emotions convenes the audiences’ feelings and forms into opinions. There may or may not be a spiritual connection made when in front of the work. Then the work is interpreted on its appearance; as each individual is unique, the analyses vary. The final stage of any work is the viewer, who completes the work by looking at it. Some look deeper to find shapes, figures, storyline, political or religious statements, and preference of color. Others realize the two dimensionality of canvas and the plasticity of the pigment yet walk away with an incredible indescribable experience.
